Gusts of brisk air, wool coats, the latest all-weather boot, layers, layers, layers. On top of this, winter ushers in a batch of new fragrances, just in time for the weeks of holiday shopping. However there are certain scents that stand the test of time and become perfume-wardrobe staples. They capture an emotion or feeling wanted during these three months.
My question for you is: Which fragrances do you turn to winter after winter? Which note captures you the most? Do you plan on buying a new fragrance this season; which one?
In my case, I tend to lean towards scents with notes of amber. One of those choices would be Rapture by Victoria's Secret (shown above.) Far from being a perfume for the masses, this fragrance's strongest notes are amber, vanilla, musk and rose. When worn with a plush sweater and boots on a frosty day, I find myself swooning over its radiating warmth. Word of warning: apply only a smidgen of a pat or spritz to the pulse point; otherwise this scent goes from beautiful to unbelievably overpowering. Another amber-infused fragrance I adore (though discontinued) is Urban Decay'sSin Perfume Oil; warm yet soft. Then there is the lovely perfume known as Princess by Vera Wang, with notes involving cocoa, florals and vanilla; this is sweet without giving the wearer a tooth ache. As for a new perfume for the season, I am hoping to grab a bottle of Bath Life's Black Forest Cake perfume oil; a concoction of cocoa, buttermilk, vanilla and cherry notes. Mm, sounds good enough to eat (with sprinkles on top.)
Every fashion week season (and every time I open my closet doors) I daydream about what (and whom) will be my inspiration and what detail about them influences the decision. I consider myself style bi-polar since day-to-day I go from craving an outfit as simple as Hepburn's, as quirky as model on Jacob's runway or as edgy as one strutting down Alexander Wang's. Too many options.
Then I began to wonder, who are your influences/inspirations?
For my specific influences, it is a long list, however I will list a few ...
